Joint Ventures: What’s in it for Me?
You have to be transparent when you're doing this and you have to be able to state your case. “Look, here's the benefit for you.” You must give them the benefit. You also have to put yourself out there and say what it is you want out of the joint venture. “And here's what I want out of it.”
When you start doing a pitch for a joint venture, the last thing you're going to talk about is yourself. In fact, the first thing you want to talk about is the benefit to the other party:
· We're going to help you with your sales conversions.
· We're going to help you generate your list.
· You're going to make affiliate commissions, or joint venture commissions.
Dolan Gadoury, who has helped such world-famous entrepreneurs as T. Harv Eker put on his high-impact seminar, says a great JV tip is to go in getting to know the people first. “Don't think about you. Think about the other person and their people and what they want, and then find the systems that you have to work around and work within it in order to get the deal done.”
Dolan suggests that asking three questions are keys for a successful joint venture:
1. What do you need?
2. What do your clients need?
3. How can I benefit you?
Take this knowledge about your potential business partner and figure out how you can benefit this person the most.
And it doesn’t really matter about the size of the list. Dolan says, “When you're approaching someone of mass influence, or as a lot of people refer to in joint venturing as someone with a large list, there are more things to think about than just the list. Go in, find out what it is that they want, find out the systems they have in place, and find out what their needs are.”
In joint ventures it's better to start small and then keep trying to grow. You simply have to get out there and you have to experience it. The most important thing is to start taking action on a joint venture. As soon as you get one under your belt, you're going to start getting feedback immediately. And after you get that feedback, you learn super fast about joint ventures and about what’s in it for everybody.
